With each passing year, I become more of a minimalist, but I do love the coziness of fall decorations, the warmth of flickering candles, and the smell of oils in a diffuser.
Farmhouse pumpkin wreaths are the simplest fall décor for a front door and are the perfect blend of all things fall, farmhouse, and pumpkin! These wreaths are sure to brighten your porch during the months of October and November as you welcome Thanksgiving guests.
Materials to Make Fall Farmhouse Pumpkin Wreaths:
2 small foam wreath forms
hot glue gun and glue
2-3 spools of orange burlap ribbon (3 in. x 3 yd.)
1 spool of green grosgrain ribbon (5/8 in. x 15 ft.)
decorative ribbon of your choice (for the bow)
I originally purchased multiple colors of burlap ribbon and planned for my project to include three wreath forms—red, brown, and orange—with rosettes attached. When I realized I didn’t have any scrap fabric that would match the ribbons on my farmhouse wreaths, the rosettes were a no-go. My mother-in-law gave me the black and white ribbon that I used for this project, and it seemed like a perfect match with the orange burlap.
Fall is the perfect time of year to decorate your front porch and hang a pumpkin wreath on the door. And let’s face it, farmhouse is all the rage right now! Learn how to make these quick and easy fall pumpkin wreaths with farmhouse flare for around ten dollars. The orange burlap is super trendy for fall!
Tutorial - How to Create Fall Farmhouse Pumpkin Wreaths:
1. Wrap each foam wreath with orange burlap ribbon, slightly overlapping the ribbon with each wrap. Secure the ribbon to the wreath with hot glue when beginning and ending the wrapping. Each pumpkin wreath can be covered with one spool of ribbon if you work carefully, but you should have an extra spool available in case it is needed.
2. Cut a small piece of decorative ribbon to wrap around each wreath. The bow will attach to the front of this area, and the green ribbon will attach to the back for hanging.
3. Tie two bows, one for each farmhouse pumpkin wreath, using the decorative ribbon.
4. Cut the green grosgrain ribbon to lengths of your choice so the wreaths hang at the same lengths. I glued the green ribbon together with a small dot of hot glue before attaching it to the pumpkin wreath. Since this project includes two small wreaths, I could not use a regular wreath hanger. To display the wreaths on my front door, I used an over-the-door hanger with multiple hooks.
This fall craft idea is simple and inexpensive and will satisfy your creative side while giving you just what you need to decorate your front door area for fall.
