Family Visit to the Creation Museum
Twelve years ago, my husband and I visited the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. What a joy it was to share this amazing biblically-based science museum with our school-aged children this past week!
The museum offers many activities and displays a wealth of information, so we will definitely plan another visit in the future. We spent around five hours on-site, which was a perfect amount of time for our little people; however, we could have definitely gone back a second day if we had more time!
I made a video highlighting our day at the Creation Museum, so don’t forget to check it out below.
Creation Museum Tickets
When purchasing tickets, the Ark and Museum Combo Ticket is the best option for families wanting to visit both attractions. The Zip Line and Canopy Adventure Tours, Mining Sluice, and Stargazer Planetarium are additional charges, so prepare to pay a little extra if you want to participate in those activities.

Things to Do at the Creation Museum
We loved touring the many educational exhibits featuring dinosaurs, Adam and Eve and the fall of man, Noah and the Flood, Creation versus Evolution, man as a sinner, the true-story of Jesus, and the promise of salvation.
The powerful 4D Experience in the special effects theater takes viewers back to Genesis, and we had fun wearing our 4D glasses and watching this truth-filled show. We were blessed to view the Created Cosmos in the Stargazer Planetarium. What a fantastic reminder of the vastness of the Universe, the smallness of man, and God’s overwhelming love for us!
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? Psalm 8:3-4
We really wanted to see Aliens: Fact of Fiction? in the Stargazer Planetarium, but the last showing was sold out when we went to purchase tickets. The holiday weekend had the museum on overload for the day!
Several videos were showing in Legacy Hall during our visit including The Last Adam, Evolution vs. God, Nye/Ham: The Second Debate, and Fearfully and Wonderfully Made. Many of these are available on DVD for purchase in the museum stores if you aren’t able to see them all while visiting.
We took home a copy of the Fearfully and Wonderfully Made DVD after seeing the newer Fearfully and Wonderfully Made Exhibit. This interesting exhibit emphasizes that all people are made in God’s image and recognizes the wonder and sanctity of all human life. My little girl especially liked the models of babies in the womb at different stages of development.
A giant insect collection helps families learn all about the creepy crawlers, butterflies, and even insects that look like leaves. Let me just say, I’m glad all those insects were dead and on display in their pretty little cases!
Shopping and Dining at the Creation Museum
The Dragon Hall Bookstore, Legacy Store, and Fair Trade Marketplace gave us plenty of options for souvenirs. We took home a plush snake bracelet, some plastic dinosaurs, and a few books by Ken Ham: Dinosaurs for Kids; One Blood for Kids: What the Bible Says About Race; The Answers Books for Kids; and Divided Nation: Cultures in Chaos & A Conflicted Church.
The museum hosts a lot of dining options including Noah’s Café, Noah’s Coffee & Ice Cream, the Terrace Grill, Grand Plaza Pizza, and Uncle Leroy’s Fudge. We ate lunch before arriving on-site, so we all shared a piece of fudge and drank a bottle of water before heading out to the Botanical Gardens and the Eden Animal Experience.
Creation Museum Botanical Gardens and Outdoor Activities
On our previous visit to the Creation Museum, my husband and I were not able to experience the gardens due to rain, and I have to say this was one of my favorite parts of our recent visit!
We loved walking through the intricately landscaped gardens. The healthy and lush plants and waterfalls made us feel we had stepped into the Garden of Eden, and the paved trails are super nice for walking! The swinging bridge was a real hit with the entire family.
Before we left, we took a quick walk through the Eden Animal Experience, and our favorite animal was the wallaby. He was resting and wasn’t much interested in socializing, but it was fun to see him! The Children’s Adventure Area also hosts a playground, but since we were planning to visit The Ark Encounter the next day, we headed on out!
God’s amazing handiwork is on full display at the Creation Museum, and my family can’t wait to go back!
It’s the perfect biblically-based science venue where families will strengthen their faith as they learn more about their awesome Creator and His wonderful world.
Creation Museum Hotel Accommodations
Last but not least, this post wouldn’t be complete without sharing our overnight hotel accommodations while visiting the Creation Museum. We spent most of one day driving and stayed overnight at the Country Inn and Suites® in Hebron, Kentucky before visiting the museum the next morning. This hotel is located approximately 12 minutes and less than 10 miles from the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky.
The hotel also shares an exit with the Cincinnati Airport and is included along a corridor with several other hotels. While there are no eating options on this exit, several options are available off other exits on Interstate 275. The closest options were around five minutes away.

The hotel was sold out for the night of our visit, which is always a positive sign for the hotel and great for business! The outside of the hotel was neatly kept, and the landscaping was simple but lovely with little flower boxes and shrubs. The updated lobby was attractive and welcoming.
The attendant at the front desk was knowledgeable about the hotel accommodations during check-in. He provided me with information about the pool, breakfast, and the location of my room. The same attendant was working the next morning when I checked out, and he asked me how I enjoyed my stay and offered me a bottle of water to go!
Room Accommodations Country Inn and Suites® Hebron, Kentucky
My family was accommodated with a double queen room. This budget-friendly hotel has been updated in the recent past and has newer headboards, more modern furniture, and well-lit bathrooms with white features. Our sheets were clean, the beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows, and towel sets were provided for our family of four.
Our room also provided traditional hotel amenities including an iron/ironing board, luggage rack, mini fridge and microwave, free WiFi, and a flatscreen TV. The hotel has modern outlets with USB plugs. This was an especially nice feature since I accidentally brought my phone cord without the head!
The hotel was quiet even though it was completely sold out, so we slept really well the night before our adventure at the Creation Museum.
Other Hotel Amenities at Country Inn and Suites® Hebron, Kentucky
After our long drive to Kentucky, we enjoyed using the hotel fitness center. Weight machines, dumbbells, two treadmills, and an elliptical machine were all available for use. While we did not swim in the indoor hotel pool, plenty of other guests were having a great time swimming and playing in the pool and hot tub areas.
A cubby snack shop was available for purchasing drinks and treats, and complimentary tea and coffee were available in the lobby.
Breakfast options were simple due to COVID restrictions, but my kids loved the prepackaged PB&J’s and breakfast danishes. Fruit cups, yogurt, and juice options were also available.
If you are looking for a family-friendly hotel near the Creation Museum, Country Inn and Suites® Hebron, Kentucky is a budget-friendly, clean, and convenient option!
