After Christmas and Valentines, transitioning to spring and Easter décor is refreshing. Spring announces growth and new life, and I enjoy bringing some of that cheeriness inside at this time of year.
Easter and spring also cause us to reflect on Christ’s death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection from the tomb. He defeated death, hell, and the grave and has provided a home in Heaven for all who will accept His free gift.
Read my personal testimony… A Different Kind of Spring Cleaning ~ Matters of the Heart
This past Saturday, I spent most of the day spring cleaning and giving my décor a refresh for the new season.
I am more of a minimalist in my décor style, but I still love a cozy cottage feel that makes me smile.
I don’t live in a super fancy house, just an older home that needs lots of TLC, but I do have fun making my house a home that is restful for my family.
A clean and well-organized home goes a long way in the décor department, and I like moving things around as I refresh for the current season.
I have an old-timey wood stove in my kitchen that was capped off years ago. I don’t like the wood smoke smell, so it’s just for decorative purposes at this point.
I like to decorate the mantel and wood stove for each season and special holidays since my family gathers at the table next to it on a daily basis for our meals.
Five Ways to Style a Cottage Farmhouse Mantel for Spring and Easter
Style a Spring Dough Bowl.
Dough Bowls are in vogue for farmhouse table centerpieces and fireplace mantel décor.
In this tutorial, I show you just how easy it is to style a spring dough bowl with candles, moss balls, lamb's ear greenery, white berries, and a couple more pink and neutral filler balls.
Add Lamb’s Ear Greenery to Create a Soft Feel.
I have been using lamb’s ear greenery since Christmas. I had crimson-colored lights intertwined for Christmas and Valentines, and now I’m using it alone for a cleaner spring feel.
Hang a Felt Ball Garland for a Pop of Color.
I have had my eye on these little ombre pink felt ball garlands from Sheep Farm Felt for quite some time. I finally purchased two of them, and I’m so glad I did. These garlands are quite long, and the balls are adjustable, so I was able to style the garlands just the way I wanted. And let me say that Command™ Mini Hooks are the best for hanging these!
Display an Easter Sign You Love.
My sister-in-law gave me the Happy Easter Y’all sign several years ago, and it goes along perfectly with the felt ball garland and bunny garland. It has just the right amount of color without being over the top!
Create Height with Windows or Pictures.
For the longest time, I didn’t like the way my mantle was styled. It always looked random and haphazard until I found the windows with wreaths. They add height to the mantle, and I can customize them for all the seasons. If you want to see how I styled them for fall, you can take a look at 12 Ways to Create a Cozy Minimalist Home for Fall.
