Hattiesburg, Mississippi is the home of the University of Southern Mississippi. College towns generally host numerous hotels, restaurants, and other social venues due to the nature of the college lifestyle. Parents visiting college kids, traveling sports teams, adjunct professors, and tourists all need the convenience of a comfy overnight stay when away from home, and Hotel Indigo® provides just that!
My family recently traveled through Hattiesburg on our way out west, and we were quite pleased with the quality of our stay at Hotel Indigo®. The hotel boasts contemporary décor with a home-town college feel and is conveniently located within walking distance of Southern Miss.
Check-in at Hotel Indigo® Hattiesburg
We arrived at the hotel property around 8 p.m. It’s always nice to arrive at a decent hour rather than dragging in at midnight on the last leg of the trip! I loved the cozy feel of the outdoor string patio lights and the industrial design of the hotel exterior.
The entrance to the hotel features beautiful woodwork from the southern pines of Mississippi, and the white décor accents create an aesthetically pleasing first impression.
Upon entrance into the hotel, we were greeted by a member of the hotel personnel who adequately assisted us with the check-in process. She gave us our hotel room card and directed us to the elevators quickly and efficiently.
Hotel Room Experience at Hotel Indigo® Hattiesburg
Hotel Indigo® offers different room styles including a one-bed king executive, two-bed executive, one-bed suite, and standard room. My family relaxed in the two-bed executive, and it was perfect for a family of four.
From the bathroom to the sheets, our entire room was fresh and clean. The cleanliness of a hotel room is always a top priority for me, but with the events of recent days and COVID-19, it was reassuring to know my room was cleaned with hospital-grade disinfectants. I always do a little of my own hotel sanitation as well. Believe me, my family knows the drill… don’t touch anything until mama is finished wiping things down and taking pictures!

The hotel room décor was a twist of collegiate classic and modern. Each of the 100 rooms at Hotel Indigo® Hattiesburg features the mascot of the University of Southern Mississippi, the golden eagle.
I loved the little table made from the trunk of a southern pine, and even though the room was a basic size, there was plenty of seating including a café-style table and chairs. I also appreciated the southern charm of the wooden slatted ceiling that was painted a relaxing gray.
The bathroom door featured an old-time collegiate office feel, and it definitely wins the award for coolest bathroom door style. The shower had a great rainfall-style shower head, and the lighting was perfect for applying makeup.
Both my husband and son remarked at the comfort of the mattresses, and we all had sweet dreams through the night. I had my wild sleeping little princess along for the ride, so I received a few extra kicks during my dreams!
Other Amenities at Hotel Indigo® Hattiesburg
The hotel does not offer a complimentary breakfast, but they do have a grab-and-go style area available, and there are numerous breakfast options at the local restaurants. Complimentary breakfasts are always nice for traveling families, so I do appreciate when hotels feature that option.
Typically, I enjoy using a hotel fitness center, but due to COVID-19, the area was closed. I totally understand the hotel’s policy on this matter, and that was just another way Hotel Indigo® Hattiesburg is making an effort to keep guests safe.
The hotel also offers all the typical room and business service amenities and has an on-site restaurant in the lobby area that serves breakfast, brunch, dinner, and dessert.
Hotel check-in at Hotel Indigo® Hattiesburg begins at 3 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
The young man who assisted us at hotel check-out was very friendly and snapped a picture of our family before we continued our travel. Of course, we were all wearing masks in compliance with Mask Up Hburg!
Thank you Hotel Indigo® Hattiesburg for a fabulous stay at your college-town hotel! It was a fantastic experience!
